The Anne Arundel County Police Department is experiencing an increase in Theft from Auto cases in and around the county. The criminals seem to be focusing on the parking lots of area fitness clubs, gyms and schools where they know individuals will be away from their vehicles for an extended period of time.

As reminder, citizens are encouraged to help deter would be thieves from stealing items from their vehicles by following a few principles:

1. Lock all vehicle doors
2. Do not leave any items of value (cell phones, GPS, purses, computers, etc) laying out in the open inside the passenger compartment
3. When possible, park in a well lit area of parking lots at night
