Computer threat

Our department has recently taken a report of a new way suspects are using to gain access to your computer.

The suspect will call on the phone stating they work for Microsoft or another computer company and advise you that your computer is infected with a virus. They will then advise you to go to a website, www.aammy.com, once on the site they will have you read a confirmation number from the site.
Aammy is a remote login program free for use. Once the suspect is given the confirmation code it allows them to remote access your computer. They can then access anything that is not password protected on your computer.
www.aammy.com is only one of many free remote software sites. They do have a legitimate purpose in helping people get tech support.
Please remember that a legitimate company will never call you unsolicited and then request information on accounts or your personal information.
