UPDATE: March 15, 2013 9:58 a.m. Railroad crossings in Warsaw remain closed. The crossings may be closed for an additional 30-45 minutes as Norfolk & Southern supervisors examine the 132 car train before it can be moved.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2004 Lexus SUV, was struck by the train in the drivers door. The driver, Sandra Casanova, 42 years old, of Fort Wayne did not complain of any pain and had no visible injuries, but was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital to be checked out. Casanova stated that she did not see the activated crossing lights and bell and did not hear the train whistle. Warsaw Police verified that the crossing warnings were working properly.
