Deadline is fast approaching for F.E.M.A. Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

On Friday, March 22, 2013 the Township of Lyndhurst will be submitting Letters of Intent to Bergen County Office of Emergency Management to make application for the F.E.M.A. Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

Any resident that was affected by Superstorm Sandy and is interested in applying for funds to complete an elevation project of their residence or to have their property purchased by F.E.M.A. as a result of repetitive flood loss are to e-mail their name, address, and contact phone number to [email protected] by Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. This also includes those residents that are currently in the process of, or have completed an elevation project already. If awarded the grant, each recipient would be responsible for 25% of the total project cost.

This is a highly competitive program and our township is NOT guaranteed to receive funding.

Additionally, Mayor Robert Giangeruso and the Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Management have launched the C.A.R.E. (Comprehensive Approach to River Emergencies) program. This program is intended to take a proactive and aggressive approach to seeking funding as well as keeping township residents informed with the most recent information. Please help us spread the word and urge your neighbors to register for NIXLE alerts.
