Felonious Assault investigation

The Columbia Township Police Department is continuing to investigate a MIP party as well as felonious assaults that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Michigan St. in the Village of Brooklyn on Sunday, March 17, at approximately 3:39 A.M.

Officer Kevin Szentmiklosi had initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle at Main and Marshall at approximately 3:39 A.M., and the driver advised him of a large fight at the residence on Michigan St. After obtaining identification on the driver, Officer Szentmiklosi responded to the residence, requesting assistance of other units. Sheriff Deputies as well as a Trooper responded to the scene.

On arrival, several subjects were found to be suffering from injuries, including lacerations that would require medical treatment (stitches/staples). Two subjects were transported by ambulance to Allegiance, where they were treated. Others were bruised or otherwise suffering minor injuries, but refused treatment.

Multiple appearance citations were issued, including MIP, and Furnishing Alcohol to Minors. In total, there were 14 subjects at the residence, only three of which were 21 years old or older. In addition to the noted appearance citations being issued, the case remains open, as additional charges are being reviewed.

It should be noted that the residence in question is owned by an out-of-town parent of two twenty-year-old brothers that are currently staying there (that have been cited and/or arrested multiple times). The parent has been contacted on several occasions, and further legal action is being contemplated due to the ongoing nuisance being created.
