On Monday, March 18, 2013, a Hit and Run collision occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue / Imperial Highway, Lynwood. The suspect vehicle was traveling westbound Imperial Highway at a high rate of speed when it rear ended a vehicle stopped for the red light at Atlantic Avenue.
Both vehicles entered the intersection and collided into a vehicle that was stopped in the intersection waiting to make a left turn onto eastbound Imperial Highway. The suspect vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof in the intersection.
The suspect fled the location on foot and was apprehended by sheriff's deputies a short time later on a nearby residential street. Five occupants were injured with moderate to serious injuries including the suspect.
A cylinder possibly containing Nitrous Oxide ("Nos") was located in the suspect’s vehicle. It is alleged the suspect was under the influence of Nitrous Oxide at the time of the collision. The suspect was arrested for Felony Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance and Felony Hit and Run.
