Lead Patrol Officer Daniel Forniss, I.D. No. 7405, has announced his retirement effective on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Danny has served the City for over twenty-eight years!

Danny, who graduated from the Golden West Police Academy in 1984, was hired as a Reserve Police Officer on December 31, 1984, and advanced to Police Officer on April 1, 1985. He was designated as a Lead Patrol Officer in July 2009.

Danny was the Department’s fourth canine handler. He has also served on the Warrant Entry Team, was a member of the S.W.A.T. team, served two separate tours within the Detective Bureau, was assigned to the PACNET detail, served as a Field Training Officer, and was the School Resource Officer for five years, a position that provides the high schools in the Cypress community with a positive law enforcement image for both students and school administrators. Danny has also served as an advisor for our Cypress Explorer Post for several years. Danny’s passion has been to mentor and serve as a role model for youths in the community, and he was able to accomplish this in his assignments as School Resource Officer and Police Explorer Advisor.

L.P.O. Forniss has been awarded his Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced P.O.S.T. certificates. Throughout his career, Danny has received over one hundred letters from members of the public acknowledging his efforts as well as certificates of commendation from the Chief of Police.
