Alert: Burglaries In Bensenville-Bensenville Police Department

Good morning everyone,

I would like to bring to your attention a number of recent burglaries in Bensenville. While in some instances they burglars have not been able to enter the premises, in other instances, they have.

Many people are on vacations so please help your neighbor who is out of town by reporting anything suspicious.

Recommendations:

1) Inspect your lighting outside. In one instance, one property on Wood St, the criminals spent a lot of time trying to gain entry. Because of no lighting in the back, they took their time. They were unable to gain entry but caused damage to the door.

2) Businesses. Businesses that are not open at times are becoming targets. Churches are not immune now. It appears they are getting hit as well. If you see someone wondering around a building that is normally empty, call the police. Do not reason the idea. Just call.

3) Times. Based on the reports, it is possible that the burglaries may be happening early in the night. So pay extra attention to suspicious people and vehicles from 8pm to 1am. If someone on your block is out on vacations, please keep an eye on the outside and report anything our of the ordinary.

4) Locations. Residential and commercial are targets. No lighting outside a house that gives the idea of being empty appears to be inviting the criminals.

Instructions:

Make sure lighting is working outside your house. Call any suspicious people or vehicles. You know your block. Report it.
