Driver of Semi Truck Dies in Marshall County

Bremen – Shortly before 11:00 a.m. Monday morning, emergency personnel and Bremen Post Troopers responded to a crash on US 6 just west of the Miami Road intersection near Bremen.

Trooper’s arrived on scene and found a male subject seat belted in the driver’s seat slumped over and unresponsive. CPR was administered to the man. However, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The driver of the 2005 Freightliner semi tractor was west bound on US 6 before he drove off the north side of the highway and into a field. The truck came to a rest several hundred feet off the roadway.

A preliminary investigation by authorities suggests that the driver of the truck, Edward E. Heward, 51, of Romney, West Virginia, died from a catastrophic medical event which caused him to drive off the road.

The state police were assisted by the Marshall County Coroner, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Bremen Police Department, Bremen Fire Department, Bremen EMS and the Indiana Department of Transportation.
