WHY: Delaware County Communication Center is celebrating the second full week of April (April 14-20, 2013) as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

Delaware County 911 Communication Center
Delaware County 911 Communication Center employs 6 dispatchers with a combined 87 years of service. They dispatch for the Delaware County Sheriff, Manchester Police, Delhi Police, 5 Ambulance Services, and 11 Fire & First Responder Units.
In 2011 Delaware County Communications was recipient of the Iowa APCO Team of the year. The following year Dispatcher Linda Fangmann received Iowa APCO Dispatcher of the Year award.
911 is the first point of contact in activating the emergency response system.
