Eight New Troopers Patrolling the Toll Road District
Indiana now has 47 new troopers patrolling the roads after receiving their patrol cars on Monday at the Indiana State Police Museum in Indianapolis. The new officers are assigned to state police districts throughout Indiana. They are members of the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit School that graduated on December 21, 2012.
During the 24 week academy in Plainfield, the recruits received more than 900 hours of structured training in law enforcement. Their curriculum included 80 hours of criminal law instruction, 50 hours of vehicle operations training, 30 hours of psychology and 40 hours of “Survival Spanish.” They also developed skills in criminal investigation, vehicle crash investigation and impaired driver detection.
The new troopers just completed 14 weeks of additional training with Field Training Officers. This program allows them to put the skills and knowledge they gained in the academy to work in the field.
Eight of the 47 troopers are headed to the Toll Road Post located off CR 17 in Bristol. Troopers Patrick Durham and Mark Price are both from Granger and Trooper Ross Rafferty is from South Bend. Trooper Grant Crabtree is from Corunna and Trooper Chad Stanek is from Dyer. Troopers Andrew Garrett and Dustin Zehnder are from Angola and Trooper Justin Superczynski is from Indianapolis.
