A body found Sunday by a fisherman near 12-Mile Bayou has been identified as that of a missing West Monroe man, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office used dental records to identify Christopher Ryan Grant, 23. A man fishing in a creek that runs from 12-Mile Bayou north of I-220 discovered Grant’s body floating only a few feet from shore.

Grant’s family reported him missing to the West Monroe Police Department over three weeks ago when they lost contact with him. They said he had been traveling back and forth from West Monroe to Carthage, Texas, for work.

Earlier today, Caddo Sheriff’s detectives, with assistance from the Civil Air Patrol, located Grant’s Chevy Tahoe in a wooded area near the creek where his body was found. There were no obvious signs of foul play where the SUV was located, said Detective Terry Richardson.

No cause of death has been issued yet by the Coroner’s Office. The case is still under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who may have seen Grant, spoken with him, or had any interaction with him in the past several weeks is asked to contact Richardson at 675-2170.

On 03-28-2013 West Monroe Police Detectives began an investigation involving Christopher R. Grant, as a missing person.

Grant was last seen on 3-11-2013 when he left his job in Carthage Texas. He has not been heard from since.

He was last seen driving a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe with unknown temporary license plates.

Confirmed last seen by Texas Hwy Patrol - 3-19-13/approx. 0800. Northbound Hwy 259 towards Kilgore, TX.

Possible sighting, not confirmed by this agency:

Family spoke to an attendant at a service station in Kilgore, TX who recognized him as a customer who had been in several times - the last time being 3-21-13.
