Exceptional Arrest by Dallas Officers of Mesquite Capital Murder Suspect
On April 16, 2013, Mesquite Police Department issued a BOLO (Be on the lookout) for a 2008 Blue Hyundai Sonata believed to have been driven by a suspect involved in the Capital Murder of a 70 year old male that occurred in Mesquite. At 4:18 pm on April 16, 2013, Dallas police dispatch received a call regarding an abandoned vehicle in the 5600 block of Forney Road. The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle used in the homicide. Having knowledge of that information, Dallas Officer Andrew Winchester notified his supervisor. Undercover Deployment officers were made aware and drove by the 5600 block of Forney Road where they were able to confirm that the vehicle in question was the suspect vehicle wanted by Mesquite Police. The officers also learned that the vehicle showed to be stolen out of Mesquite. The Deployment officers set up surveillance on the vehicle while another team of officers set up nearby to wait for a possible suspect to occupy the vehicle. Moments later, two individuals got into the suspect vehicle and drove off from the location. Uniform officers conducted a high risk traffic stop in the 7100 block of Samuel Road where both occupants were taken into custody without incident. The driver of the stolen vehicle, who is also the suspect in the Capital Murder, was identified as Randy Wright W/M/43. The passenger was also taken into custody for an outstanding Parole Violation. The Capital Murder offense is documented on Mesquite’s case # 13039926.
