Detectives with the West Monroe Police Department need your help:
On 04/15/2013 warrants were issued for the arrest of Benyone A. Ellis in connection with a shooting that took place in the 300 block of Anderson Street in West Monroe on 03/28/2013.
The warrants were issued for the charges of Illegal discharge of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bond has been set at $25,000.00

On 03/28/2013 at approximately 08:40 pm, the West Monroe Police Department responded to a reported disturbance in the 300 block of Anderson Street. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate any disturbance in the area.
A short time later the West Monroe Police Department was notified of a 26 year old male who had come into the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room with a single gun-shot wound he had received while in the 300 block of Anderson Street, West Monroe.
Detectives quickly identified Beyone A. Ellis, 31, of Monroe as a suspect in the shooting incident. Preliminary evidence indicates this shooting may in fact have been accidental in nature. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
As of 5:00 pm on 3/29/2013 the victim is listed in stable condition. He has been flown to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and is expected to recover.
