On April 23, 2013 at approximately 4:40 pm, the Thurmont Police responded to an armed robbery in progress at the Liberty Gas Station on N. Church St. The clerk of this business reported to dispatch that a suspect had demanded money and displayed a knife, and then fled the business. The clerk provided a description of the suspect and the responding officers located and arrested the suspect in an adjacent parking lot. The officers identified the suspect as a 14 year old juvenile male of Thurmont. The weapon was recovered and there were no injuries. During the juvenile’s detainment, the juvenile began making threats of harming himself and that he had overdosed his medications. The juvenile was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for an emergency medical evaluation. The suspect was charged as a juvenile with: Robbery; Armed Robbery; and Theft less than $100.

On January 29, 2013 members of the Thurmont Police Department executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at a residence on Ironmaster Drive in Thurmont. During the search of this residence, numerous items of CDS paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, and Psilocybin (Mushrooms) were recovered in sufficient quantity to indicate distribution. On Friday April 19, 2013, a Frederick County Grand Jury indicted Eric Gosnell, age 18, of Thurmont with: Possession of Marijuana; Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute; Possession of Psilocybin (Mushrooms); and Possession of Psilocybin (Mushrooms) with intent to distribute. On April 23, 2013 Mr. Gosnell was arrested at his residence and served with the indictment. Mr. Gosnell was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
