HUNTERDON MAN HAD THREE POUNDS OF POT MAILED TO HIM
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced the arrest and conviction of one individual after a joint investigation between the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force and U.S. Postal Inspectors.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “During our investigation into heroin distribution known as Operation Day Tripper, the United States Postal Inspectors alerted the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force that a package arrived at the Flemington Post Office emanating a strong odor of raw marijuana. An inspection of the parcel revealed several glass mason jars containing different varieties of marijuana. Some of the jars had broken during shipment.”
Evidence obtained by Detectives revealed that Justin Corbett, age 22, of Whitehouse Station had purchased three pounds of marijuana from a person in Santa Cruz, California and had it mailed to the Flemington Post Office. On December 10, 2012, Mr. Corbett arrived at the post office to pick up the package and was arrested.
Mr. Corbett subsequently pled guilty to 3rd Degree Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. He was sentenced to three years probation on April 11, 2013 by the Honorable Stephen B. Rubin, J.S.C.
