Gang Member Arrested for Possession of a Firearm Along With Narcotics
While conducting a patrol check of a motel along the western most border of the Station’s service area, the attention of Century Station deputies were drawn to an individual who appeared suspicious. As the deputies got closer, they could see that he was holding an object in his hands. Without warning, the individual ran through the motel complex and hid in the carport of an adjoining apartment. Deputies quickly drove around to the apartment and were alerted by a citizen that a man was hiding in the carport. A short while later, deputies spotted the same man and detained him pending an investigation.
Deputies searched the area and discovered that the individual had discarded a .32 caliber revolver and three small baggies containing methamphetamine. When asked about the gun and the drugs, the man admitted to possessing the gun for protection and having an addiction to methamphetamine.
During their investigation, deputies also learned that the suspect was an active member of a local street gang and that he had a prior felony conviction. It is unknown if the suspect was at the motel to rob the manager or to rent a room, however, what is certain is that a dangerous criminal with the means to seriously hurt or even kill people was removed from the streets.
