Search underway for missing state prison inmate
A search is underway for a state prison inmate who failed to report to his work release job in Sioux Falls today.
Inmate Robert Cadotte left Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary, this morning to go to his work release job but never showed up at the work site.
Cadotte is a 34 year old Native American male, 5-feet-9 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He is serving a 5 year sentence for fourth offense DUI out of Roberts County.
Anyone who sees Cadotte or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
The minimum-security units across the state house an average of more than 1,000 inmates daily. Unit C currently houses more than 270 inmates. Between 2,000 and 2,500 inmates are processed through minimum security units each year.
