SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

Early this afternoon, Warsaw Police detectives received a tip from a Fort Wayne based business after the suspect submitted an application for employment. The business read and saw the attempt to locate Christopher Clapp in the news and contacted Warsaw detectives. Fort Wayne based Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive (ATFE) officers descended on the address that Clapp had put on his application, which turned out to be the Travel Inn in Fort Wayne. After a short period of surveillance, they located Christopher Clapp and took him into custody, without incident.

Warsaw Police are looking for a suspect involved in alleged credit card thefts and fraud and are in need of the public’s help in locating the suspect. On Friday, May 10th, 2013 a victim called Warsaw Police to report three (3) of her credit cards stolen. The resulting investigation indicated that Christopher B. Clapp, 30 years old, was responsible for the theft and use of the credit cards. Over $515.00 in cash and cigarettes was obtained before the cards were cancelled. For a week prior to the thefts, the suspect had been renting a room from the victim. The suspect was tracked to a local hotel, but had left before police arrived and has not been seen since.
In this case, two (2) felony fraud warrants have been issued for the arrest of Christopher B. Clapp, born in 1982 and the last recorded address of 4105 Kuder Lane in Warsaw, Indiana. Christopher Clapp is also wanted on two (2) felony warrants in Richland County, (Mansfield) Ohio for theft and aggravated assault, as well as Missoula County, Montana, for felony theft.
Christopher B. Clapp is described as 30 years of age, 6’00” tall, 195 pounds, short dark hair, and green eyes. Photos attached.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Christopher B. Clapp are asked to call the Warsaw Police investigations division at 574-372-9531, or their local law enforcement agency.
