Century Youth Activities League Outshines at “Kids Got Talent” Competition
On May 11, 2013, the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, Youth Activities League sponsored a talent competition and invited all YAL Centers to participate. Robby Hartson, the West Hollywood YAL’s drama instructor was noted as saying “It has an element of competition, but also exposes kids to the arts.” Judges for the talent competition included Sheriff’s Department Chief Goran and other civilian pillars of the community.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, the Century Youth Activities League sent a group of talented young boys and girls to West Hollywood to showcase their talents. A dance group of ten girls from the Century YAL outshined everyone else, taking first place and $750. In the art category, there was one second place winner and three third place winners from the Century YAL. Their renderings of what the YAL means to them were noted as being the most colorful, having the best message and being the most inspiring. The winners were awarded $250 and $100 each, respectively. In addition to the cash prizes, $750 was awarded to the Century YAL Trust Account in furtherance of other programs at the YAL.
Century Station is proud of all the kids who participated in the talent competition and encourage each of them to continue pursuing their passion.
