The Town of Newburgh Police has an important message for you! Medication Drop box located at our headquarters.

Abuse of prescription medications is a major public health problem. The majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends or from the home medicine cabinet. Proper disposal of discontinued, expired or unwanted medications is one way of addressing this serious problem.

There are several groups and organizations in the area that occasionally sponsor one-day programs wherein people may dispose of medications at designated locations. The Police Department frequently receives calls asking about disposal options and where medications can be taken.

The Town of Newburgh Police Department would like to announce once again that there is a “Medication Drop-box” in the main lobby of the Police Department, 300 Gardnertown Road, where medications may be deposited safely and anonymously. The drop-box has been available at the PD for over one year and was obtained through the NYS Department of Health. It is available 24-hours a day. This service is available to private individuals – no businesses.
