Armed Robber Apprehended and Arrested with the Assistance of Local Citizens
On Thursday, May 23, 2013, at approximately 9:09 pm, an armed robbery occurred at the “Bottle Shop” (2345 S. Winchester Blvd). A masked subject entered the convenience store and threatened the clerk with a knife. After retrieving money from the cash register, a physical altercation began between the suspect and the clerk.
During the altercation, the clerk’s shirt was cut by the knife and he sustained a minor cut on his neck. The suspect fled the scene and was chased by several citizens who saw the suspect fleeing. The witnesses were able to provide the Campbell Police Department with updates on the suspect’s location as he fled on foot.
With the information, Officers were able to quickly take the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as a 17 year old juvenile. The Campbell Police Department is working jointly with the District Attorney’s Office to charge the suspect as an adult based on the seriousness of the crime.

The Campbell Police Department is thankful for the collaborative relationship we have formed with the community. We encourage anyone who witnesses a crime to provide information to the Police Department, but not get directly involved in the apprehension.
