PRESS RELEASE: WARSAW PD ARREST TWO IN WEEKEND BURGLARIES

May 28, 2013

For Immediate Release

Suspects in multiple burglaries arrested.

Warsaw Police have arrested two (2) suspects in connection with several forced entry burglaries over the weekend. At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, a park department employee observed a suspicious vehicle at the Mobile One gas station next to Central Park and called police. Warsaw Police located the vehicle driving near Lyon Street and stopped the vehicle on North Detroit Street. At about the same time, Arby’s Restaurant, 1980 N. Detroit Street, called police advising that the business had been broken into. The resulting investigation found items inside the car that led investigators to Arby’s and other local businesses along Detroit Street that had been burglarized. At this time, Warsaw Police know that Arby’s and Subway Restaurants were broken into and entry was gained, along with Mobile One gas station. There was extensive damage to the interior of Arby’s, which includes damaged cash registers and damaged register touch screens beyond repair. Police also suspect that entry was attempted at Penguin Point Restaurant. Other businesses may still come forward. Damage from the businesses is estimated between $50,000 to $75,000. At this time, Warsaw Police have filed charges with the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony burglary by forcible entry and felony criminal mischief on the following suspects.
Jason A. Whetstone, 29 years of age, of South Bend, IN.
Nicholas L. Cline, 24 years of age, of South Bend, IN.
The investigation is continuing by the Warsaw Police Investigations Division and with the Kosciusko County Major Crimes Taskforce. Warsaw Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, and the Winona Lake Police Department.
