***UPDATE*** Burglaries- Harmans/Hanover

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Western District responded to multiple reports of attempted residential burglaries and a burglary in the community of Harmans in Hanover.

In three of the incidents, the suspect(s) attempted to gain entry to the residence, but were unsuccessful. In a fourth incident, the suspect(s) forced entry to the home and removed property. It is unclear at this time whether the suspect(s) then fled on foot or in a vehicle.

All four incidents occurred during the overnight hours of May 17 into May 18. During each incident, the homes were occupied with the residents inside sleeping at the time. The incidents occurred in the following areas:

7600 block of Fairbanks Court
1400 block of Gesna Drive
7600 block of Ridge Chapel Road
7700 block of Baggins Road

Since the previous message was sent out, there have been 2 additional burglaries and 1 attempted burglary. In one the burglaries, the suspect(s) took jewelry and electronics from the home, and in the other burglary, the supsect(s) removed copper wire and pipes from the home. In each of the cases, including those previously mentioned, the suspect(s) appear to be gainging access to the homes through a rear door or window. The burglaries are primarily occurring during the overnight hours, but at least 2 have occurred during daytime hours.

The recent incidents occurred at the following locations:
1400 block of Graham Farm Circle
1200 block of Severn Station Road
1400 block of Fairbanks Court

As a reminder, homeowners are asked to lock all windows and doors prior to leaving their homes. Additionally, placing a wooden or metal door jam in the sliding track on all glass sliding doors is an effective measure to take to prevent the glass sliders from being forced open.

Residents are asked to call 911 if they see any suspicous persons or automobiles. If you have any information about any of the above mentioned cases, you are asked to contact Detective Sweeney at 410-222-6155.
