Brief Narrative of Event:
On June 7, 2013, the Cypress Police Department in supporting Southern California Special Olympics. More than 2,000 law enforcement officers from throughout Southern California work a whole "new beat" with Special Olympics Southern California. Local officers go above and beyond the call of duty year-round with their participation in the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, which is Special Olympics largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. SOSC's Torch Run is one of the leading programs in the world having raised nearly $1.2 million in 2012 with participants from more than 125 law enforcement agencies.
The Cypress Police Department will have approximately twenty participants running in the event. The runners will begin at Paul’s Place at the corner of Knott Avenue and Cerritos Street after accepting the torch from the Anaheim Police Department. The two mile course will end at the intersection of Knott Avenue and Orangewood Street, where the torch will be handed off to the Garden Grove Police Department.
