Riley Fire Provides Mass Casualty Training
Indiana’s Task Force 7 Mass Casualty Response trailer has been at Honey Creek Fire Department this week providing Honey Creek personnel a review of the trailer’s capabilities and equipment. The trailer is designed for rapid deployment to multi-patient incidents within the 8 county response area of Indiana Homeland Security District 7. The Mass Casualty Incident Response Trailer (MCI Trailer) is a large-cache EMS equipment storage trailer. It is a twenty-four foot long trailer that is towed by a heavy duty truck both of which are housed and maintained by Riley Fire Department. The trailer is intended for mass casualty EMS incidents with a patient capacity of up 100 persons. The trailer contains large amounts of various emergency medical supplies intended to resupply those used by first responders initially on scene of a large scale incident. The trailer primarily responds within District 7 but will respond anywhere in the state if requested. Chief Jeff Fox of Riley Fire Department reviewed today the different procedures necessary when first responders initially recognize that an incident involves multiple patients. Chief Fox then provided Honey Creek Firefighters a hands-on overview of the various capabilities and equipment that the trailer can bring to an incident within Honey Creek Township.
