Advisory

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FROM NOON TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE EXPECTED DUE TO THE WARM AND HUMID AIR MASS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE LIKELY WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF UP TO 3 INCHES IN ANY SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORM. THIS MUCH RAINFALL, IN COMBINATION WITH THE ALREADY SATURATED GROUND FROM TROPICAL STORM ANDREA, MAY QUICKLY RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING LATER TODAY.

PLEASE STAY TUNED TO YOUR PREFERRED SOURCE FOR WEATHER INFORMATION.
