Joint Training Exercise - Alhambra Police Department/Alhambra Unified School District - Friday, June 14, 2013.
On Friday morning, June 14, 2013, Officers from the Alhambra Police Department, in partnership with the Alhambra Unified School District’s, Gateway To Success Program will be conducting a joint training exercise on the campus of Alhambra High School. The training will consist of Alhambra Police Department School Resource Officers, Alhambra Patrol Officers and Detectives, training alongside Alhambra Unified School District support staff, Campus Supervisors and School Administrators in simulated emergency crisis situations/scenarios. Volunteers will act as role players as the officers and school staff work through unexpected simulations addressing critical school incidents. The participants will practice working together to intervene and resolve school emergency situations that may arise on campus which may potentially result in calling a school “lock down,” as well as addressing critical emergency procedures that schools must enforce in order to maintain a safe school and community environment.
A similar training exercise was held in June of 2011 and was well received by school staff and officers. This scheduled training exercise is part of the ongoing joint training that has taken place over the past years with members of the Alhambra Unified School District and the Alhambra Police and Fire Departments. Other training has included fire drills, lock down drills, campus evacuation drills and a variety of mental health training.
