FAILED BURGLARY ATTEMPT WITH SUSPECT SKETCH THANKS TO ALERT WITNESS
Thanks to an alert Mountain View resident and neighbor -- who also proved to be a great witness -- Mountain View Police Department was able to create a rendering of an attempted residential burglary suspect.
On 6/11/13 at approximately 2:00PM in the 900 block of Boranda Avenue, a Mountain View resident was at home when they noticed the suspect walking towards their neighbor's unit. The suspect then came back around the side of the complex where the witness resides and continued walking back towards the neighbor's unit. When the homeowner of this unit returned, they found pry marks and damage to an exterior door.
One of the most important things you can do to assist law enforcement is to be a great witness," says Acting Lt. Mike Fisher. "Take a moment to observe the individual's clothing, height and weight. Other important details such as tattoos, scars and unusual features are also critical. Combine all of this with a great sketch artist and the end result is a clear visual representation of a suspect."
The subject is described as a 20 year old black male, 5'10", 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

VEHICLE PURSUIT - TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED
On 6/13/13, at 8:00 pm, a Mountain View police officer initiated a traffic stop, at El Camino Real and Grant Road, on a ’95 white Honda Civic that was reported stolen from the City of San Jose. David Antonio Perez, 31 years old from San Jose (Pictured on the left) was driving and Vance Edmond Howeth, 46 years old also from San Jose (Pictured on the right) was the passenger. The Honda drove onto Highway 237 failing to yield to the officer. The officer initiated a pursuit as the Honda entered the 85 Freeway. The Honda traveled to the off-ramp at Moffett Blvd where it collided with a vehicle stopped at the light. The Honda then careened off the road and struck a Traffic Control Box shutting down the power to the intersection.
Perez fled from the car and entered the creek area while Howeth was detained at the scene. With the help of a witness, Perez was located and arrested at the Quality Inn on Evandale Avenue shortly thereafter.
Howeth was transported to a local hospital for a complaint of pain. No one else, including the driver struck by the Honda, was injured during this incident.
The subjects were booked into the San Jose Main Jail for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Yield, Hit & Run, and Theft with a Prior. Perez was additionally charged with Resisting an Officer.
