West Monroe Police Department unveils our new online crime reporting option for the public.
The West Monroe Police Department is proud to announce the unveiling of our new online crime reporting option for the public.
The site will allow persons to report certain crime and incident types at the West Monroe Police Departments website: www.WMPD.net
The site is NOT for reporting “Crimes in Progress” or ANY type of emergency.
• Bicycle theft (no dollar limit)
• Any Theft (value under $500)
• Criminal Mischief, Damage to Property
• Lost/mislaid personal property
• Anonymous Tips
• Traffic- or pedestrian-related concern
Currently, an officer would respond to these incidents, interview witnesses and then compile a police report. While that remains an option, the online reporting site can save time for both the reporting party and WMPD officers. For example, WMPD received and dispatched officers to 62 incidents of a lost item last year. This is a superb example of when our new on-line reporting option can be utilized.
“This new tool provides an online convenience for citizens who want to report crimes within the city limits of West Monroe, from the comfort of their own home or even when they are on the go.” said Chief Jerry R. Stansbury. “It will also free up officers to spend more time on the street focusing on directed problem solving, such as preventing thefts and more serious crimes.”
Users can upload their case summary, possible suspect info and incident photos. The information will transfer into WMPD’s records management system and be investigated in the same manner as conventional reports filed by police officers.
