National Night Out August 6, 2013 5pm - 7pm

Windsor Heights, Iowa – June, 14, 2012 - National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime” began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. That first year, 2.5 million Americans took part across 400 communities in 23 states.
National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
The Windsor Heights Police Association along with several sponsors will be hosting free family fun to include games, photo booth, bounce houses, crash test dummies and McGruff the Crime Dog. Meet your Windsor Heights Police Officers and Fire/EMS Personnel. Meet Argos, our K-9 officer and see a demonstration of his skills. Weather permitting; the KCCI helicopter will be on display. There will be prizes and drawings, including two bikes, provided by Wal-Mart. The Windsor Heights Hy-Vee will sponsor free hot dogs and hamburgers (while supplies last). Popcorn will be sponsored by the Windsor Heights Foundation. Other snacks and drinks will be provided free of charge while supplies last.
This year we are excited to help area schools by collecting school supplies for students in need. Bring NEW items like notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, markers, rulers, etc. We will divide the supplies between Windsor Elementary, Clive Elementary and Cowles Montessori.
