Santa Rosa Junior College Police Department Personnel to Participate in Special Olympics Torch Run
The Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest fundraising event for the Special Olympics. It involves police employees and Special Olympic athletes running a relay race carrying the Special Olympics torch, also called the “Flame of Hope.” On June 19, 2013, Santa Rosa Junior College Police Department personnel will run with local Special Olympics athletes from Santa Rosa to Rohnert Park. The torch will be passed on and ultimately arrive at the Special Olympics Games hosted in Davis, California, on June 21, 2013.
The Santa Rosa Junior College community encourages you to donate to the Special Olympics directly through their website at: http://www.specialolympics.org/ and help make a difference in these athletes’ lives.
