Deputies from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Departments Parks Bureau arrested a thirty-three year old man who attempted to kidnap a six year old West Covina girl from a crowded Arcadia Park (405 South Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia) today, June 23, 2013, at 3:35 p.m. The girl was playing with her friends in the picnic area by the softball fields when Jason Macklin Dell, Male, 33 years-of-age, grabbed her by the hand and began dragging her out of the park away from her friends and family. The girl screamed and fought to get away from the man and was able to free herself after being pulled approximately one hundred feet. The girl ran to her mother who was nearby and told her what had happened. The mother called 911 and then confronted Mr. Dell who was detained quickly by Arcadia Police Department personnel. The girl was physically unharmed.
Jason Dell, transient, was placed under arrest for Kidnapping and Annoying a Child. He was booked at Temple Sheriff Station where he is being held in lieu of $400,000.00 bail. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Departments Parks Bureau Detectives are on scene and handling the investigation.
