Chad Larsh named New Bremen Post District Commander

Marshall County - Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter recently announced the promotion of Sergeant Chad Larsh to the rank of lieutenant. Larsh will now serve as the Bremen Post District Commander. The Bremen Post covers Marshall, Kosciusko, St. Joseph, and Elkhart Counties. Larsh earned this promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process.

Larsh is a native of La Fontaine and graduated from Southwood High School in Wabash, Indiana. After graduation he continued his education at Vincennes University where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Drafting in 1992. After graduation, Larsh worked for Zimmer in Warsaw before joining the state police. Sergeant Larsh is an 18-year veteran of the department and has worked at the Bremen Post since graduating from the Indiana State Police Academy in 1995.

During his tenure with the department, Larsh worked as a trooper in Kosciusko County before taking over as the District Marijuana Eradication Coordinator in 1999. Larsh was also a member of the ISP SWAT for more than twelve years during which time he earned third place in the Super SWAT Cop category at the Carmel SWAT Challenge in 2006. In 2009 Larsh was awarded the Life Award for the Bremen Post. The Life Award is given out to a trooper at each district that makes the most DUI arrests. Larsh made 50 driving under the influence arrests in 2008. Most recently Larsh was promoted to the rank of squad sergeant in 2009 where he supervised troopers.

Larsh also has a fixed wing pilot’s license and a helicopter license. Following in his father’s footsteps, Larsh has long been a part of the state police family as his dad Duane Larsh, retired from the state police post in Peru after 21 years of service in 1986. As luck would have it Larsh’s father-in-law, Melvin Keplinger is also an ISP retiree. Keplinger served the state police as a detective sergeant and retired after 28 years of service in 1991.

Chad Larsh lives in Warsaw with his wife Michelle and their two boys Tristan and Keagan.
