FIRES ARE RAVAGING FORESTS AND COMMUNITIES IN COLORADO, ARIZONA, AND EVEN NEW MEXICO. SAFETY AND PREPAREDNESS ARE PARAMOUNT FOR EVERYONE.
THE RED FLAG WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR ALL OF BERNALILLO COUNTY.
* AREA AND TIMING...THIS INCLUDES THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS AND THE RIO GRANDE
VALLEY FROM LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH EARLY EVENING.
* WINDS...SOUTHWEST 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...4 TO 9 PERCENT.
* IMPACTS...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY.
OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT PERMITTED IN BERNALILLO COUNTY.
RED FLAG AND HIGH FIRE DANGER SITUATIONS MEAN THAT WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE RIPE FOR A CATASTROPHIC FIRE. HIGH WINDS, DRY FUELS, AND LOW HUMIDITIES ARE THE HALLMARKS OF RED FLAG CONDITIONS. NO OPEN BURNING IS PERMITTED.
