Arrest three adults in methamphetamine lab bust with children present
Giles County Sheriff Sergeant Brandon Tarpley and Deputy Matt King responded to a residence on Campbellsville Road (Hwy 166 North) in Northern Giles County near the Maury County Line to a complaint of a disturbance in early morning hours of Tuesday June 25. . Once at the residence the officers saw in plain view outside the residence a bottle that they readily recognized as one used to manufacture methamphetamine that was still smoking from recent use. Deputies could also smell a strong odor they recognized as that of an odor commonly produced by the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Upon further investigation by Investigators Mike Thomason and Scott Nations it was discovered that there was evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing ongoing inside the residence. They removed four children ages 14, 16 and 17 three of which lived at the residence and the other a friend visiting for the night. There were also three adults in the residence identified as forty-one year old Jennifer Lynn Nichols, fifty year old Larry Neil Nichols both reside at the residence and forty year old Denise Ann Beavers from Nashville, TN.
The Giles County Office of Emergency Management and the Giles County Rescue Squad was called to the scene to coordinate decontamination of the individuals, the Tennessee Department of Children Services was called to take custody of the children after treatment at the Hospital, Giles County Emergency Medical services was on hand in case of any medical emergencies, deputies and investigators from the Sheriff’s Department along with OEM personnel packaged the lab and hazardous materials for pickup and disposal by the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force. The residence was quarantined by the Giles County Sheriff’s Department in accordance with state laws.
Jennifer Nichols is currently on probation for previous drug charges levied by the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and Denise Beavers is currently on probation for manufacturing methamphetamine.
All three of the adults were charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect, initiation of methamphetamine manufacture and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. Each remain in the Giles County Jail with a $151,000 bond each
