Counterfeit Money Passed in Amish Community.
Recently suspects have been passing counterfeit one hundred dollar bills in the Amish community. These bills look very genuine at first glance and will pass the “pen test” vendors often use. This is because the bill is printed on a ONE DOLLAR bill.
It is common for those involved in these crimes to bleach the one dollar bill and then print lager denominations onto the now blank bill. The money then feels real and will pass the pen test.
In the most recent case the suspects were driving a black mini van occupied by a man and two women, all with visible tattoos.
The offenders purchased produce and provided the "one hundred dollar bill" for payment, and received change.
Please take note that the serial number being used in these recent cases is CB18595868F. It is also worth noting that the printing is upside down on the back of the bill.
