Sentencing on Pinetree Antique Mall strong-armed robbery
As previously reported, the Pinetree Antique Mall in Brooklyn was robbed during business hours on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Through the investigation, a suspect was developed, and Troy Alan Wiercioch was charged and then arrested on approximately October 31, 2012.
Wiercioch was originally charged with Retail Fraud and Larceny from a Person. Those charges were later upgraded to Unarmed Robbery. A preliminary examination was held, and Wiercioch was bound over to Circuit Court. In a plea agreement, Wiercioch recently entered a guilty plea to the more serious Unarmed Robbery charge, and the other less serious charge was dismissed.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2013, Wiercioch was sentenced to 36 months to 180 months in prison, with credit for the time he had served in jail awaiting trial. Restitution of $7,803.00 was also ordered.
Although this concludes the case originating in Columbia Township, Wiercioch has charges or sentencing pending in several other Michigan counties, as well as Ohio, for similar thefts from antique stores.
