Full Notification

At approximately 8:08 PM Nederland Police responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lane in the 1500 of Hwy 69. On arrival officers observed found a 2007 Mini Cooper in the ditch between the retaining wall separating the north and southbound lanes.. The vehicle appeared to have overturned several times. Witnesses at the scene stated the vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed, appeared to lose control traveling through the ditch before striking the retaining wall and overturning several times ejecting the driver. The driver is a 58 year old Orange resident. His name is withheld pending notification of next of kin. Judge Marc Derouen is conducting an inquest and has ordered an autopsy. There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries.
