Fireworks Reminder From The Albany Police Department
Sparklers and similar non-explosive fireworks are legal in Georgia. The sale and use of most types of fireworks-firecrackers, skyrockets, and cherry bombs or anything that becomes airborne is illegal in... Georgia and is punishable by a maximum fine of 1,000-dollars and up to one year in jail.
If the Albany Police Department is called regarding illegal fireworks usage, citizens could receive a courtesy warning, or a citation and the fireworks could be confiscated.
This year, community members can enjoy fireworks safely by attending the Fourth of July festivities hosted by the City of Albany and the Exchange Club at the Fairgrounds on Thursday. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
Have a safe 4th of July from the Albany Police Department
