Century Station would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July and remind residents living in the Florence/Firestone and Willowbrook/Athens districts in Los Angeles, that fireworks (including “Safe and Sane”) are illegal in all unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. “Safe and Sane” type fireworks are permitted in the city of Lynwood.
Additionally, Century Station would like to remind everyone that celebratory gunfire is not only dangerous, but illegal. Since 2004, Century Station has utilized ShotSpotter, a gunfire alert and location technology which utilizes acoustic sensors to triangulate the exact location of where gunfire is coming from within the coverage area.
Shooting a gun into the air is a felony. If you are caught you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. A stray bullet from your gun can kill someone. People involved in celebrating the holidays by shooting their guns do not realize the danger posed by their actions. If you ever see someone fire a gun into the air, call the police. Celebrate holidays safely and responsibly. Do not fire guns into the air.
