AAPD Chief Kevin Davis launches Twitter Page...
Chief’s Twitter page will give residents an inside look at the activities of the Chief
Effective July 15, 2013, Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis has launched his own Twitter page in an effort to bring news related to the daily activities of the Chief of Police to the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
“This is a great opportunity for me to show transparency to the residents of this County who deserve to know the daily activities of their Police Department and Chief,” said Chief of Police Kevin Davis. “While there are many informational channels out there for the public to utilize, Twitter seems to be the medium of choice right now for members of the media and the public.”
As was recently on display nationally during the search for the Boston bombing suspects, law enforcement utilized social media to update residents on the status of the investigation and to correct misinformation for the public. Social media provides law enforcement a unique opportunity to disseminate information to the public in a timely fashion. The Anne Arundel County Police Department currently utilizes various social media tools to enhance its mission and first launched its Facebook and Twitter pages in March of 2009. The department encourages residents to follow Chief Davis and the Police Department with the information provided below.
