THEFT FROM AUTOS - LAUREL/HANOVER
In the past two weeks, officers from Western District have responded to numerous complaints of theft from autos. In each of the incidents, the suspect(s) gained entry into the vehicles by various methods and once inside they removed the vehicle’s air bag as well as other personal property.
The suspect(s) appear to be primarily targeting Honda and Acura products, but in a few instances, they have also targeted Nissans and Toyotas. Their primary method of gaining entry into the vehicles is by shattering the rear driver or passenger side window. In addition to the air bags, the suspect(s) have also stolen personal property such as GPS devices and money.
The thefts have occurred on the following streets:
3200 block of Ivy Wood Lane, Laurel
8100 block of Edge Rock Way, Laurel
8100 block of Scenic Meadow Drive, Laurel
8200 block of Brushyridge Road, Laurel
3500 block of Floating Leaf Lane, Laurel
3400 block of Bitterwood Place, Laurel
Fair Oaks Dr/Torpoint Court, Hanover
1500 block of Martock Lane, Hanover
1400 block of Pangbourne Way, Hanover
1500 block of Penzance Way, Hanover
Additionally, although not yet confirmed, it appears as though the suspect(s) are stealing a vehicle that is located within close proximity to the thefts in order to flee the area. There have been reports of two Honda products that were stolen on the night the thefts occurred.
Residents are reminded to lock all doors and to remove any items of value from plain view inside their vehicles such as GPS devices, cell phones (including charging cords), money and any other type of electronics. Residents are also asked to call 911 immediately if they observe any suspicious activity.
If you have any information pertaining to the above mentioned incidents, you are asked to contact Detective Golas at (410)222-6155.
