Cypress P.D. Arrests Three for Theft from a Vehicle
On July 17, 2013, at approximately 4:07 a.m., Cypress Police Officers were dispatched to the 9200 Block of Bloomfield to investigate an audible vehicle alarm. While en route, the good samaritan who reported the vehicle alarm added that she could see two subjects hiding behind a trash dumpster. Upon the arrival of the officers, the two subjects immediately fled the area on foot and a short foot pursuit took place. Both subjects were quickly caught and taken into custody without incident.
During the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the two suspects entered two unlocked vehicles and stole property from both. Furthermore, a third suspect was found at the scene waiting in a getaway vehicle. All of the stolen property was returned to the rightful owners.
Ricky Arroyo (D.O.B. 9-12-93) and Mitchell Celaya (D.O.B 8-23-94) were charged with P.C. 496(a) – possession of stolen property, P.C. 488 – petty theft, P.C. 148(a)(1) – resisting / delaying arrest, and V.C. 10852 – vehicle tampering. Nicole Lammlein (D.O.B. 2-22-92) was charged with P.C. 496 (a) – possession of stolen property and P.C. 148(a)(1) – resisting / delaying arrest. All three suspects were later booked at the Orange County Jail and are being held on $10,000 bail.
This case serves as a good example to always lock and secure parked vehicles, as well as to not leave valuables inside of unattended vehicles. Furthermore, without the actions of the citizen who initially reported the audible alarm and provided updated information on the suspicious subjects, this case may not have been solved.
