LASD South LA/Lawndale deputies arrest motorist for DUI drugs after collision with a pedestrian injured, Lawndale.
On July 26, 2013, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Nima Vandordaklou a 31 year old male from Rolling Hills Estates, was driving a 2009, gray Honda westbound on Rosecrans Avenue approaching Avis Avenue, in the City of Lawndale. Vandordaklou was talking on his cellular telephone when he collided into a parked1995 Mercedes-Benz S320 which was parked on the north side of Rosecrans Avenue. Due to the speed of Vandordaklou's vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz was pushed forward just as a pedestrian was walking in front of it. The Mercedes-Benz collided into a 1994 Chevy Cavalier which was parked in front of it. The pedestrian was pinned between the two vehicles.
Deputies from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, South Los Angeles Station/Lawndale Service Center and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene. The Mercedes-Benz had to be backed up to free the pedestrian from between the two vehicles.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital since he suffered injuries to both of his legs. The pedestrian's injuries are not life threatening.
Deputies determined that Vandordaklou was apparently driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs which caused injury to the pedestrian, while he was talking on a cellular telephone. Vandordaklou was placed under arrest and additionally charged with possession of narcotics. He was transported to South Los Angeles Station where he posted bail. Vandordaklou's next court date is August 16, 2013, at Torrance Court.
Traffic Detective Tim Crise stated, "This traffic collision could have easily been deadly. Do not use your cellphone while driving and obviously, do not drive if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs."
