Former Woodway HEB Employee Arrested for Lottery Scandal

On July 30, 2013 the Woodway Public Safety Department was notified by H.E.B. officials that they had become aware of a theft of a large sum of Texas Lottery tickets. A criminal investigation was opened by Detectives of the Woodway Public Safety Department. The investigation revealed an employee of H.E.B. Woodway had stolen approximately $139,000 in Texas Lottery tickets. The investigation also showed that the suspect had fraudulently claimed over $30,000 in winnings with the Texas Lottery Commission. Subsequent to the findings of the investigation, warrants were obtained for the arrest of Charles Alan Jones, a 35 year-old former employee of H.E.B. The warrants were for Theft over $100,000 / under $200,000 (2nd degree felony) and Claiming a Lottery Prize by Fraud over $10,000 (2nd degree felony). Mr. Jones turned himself in at the McLennan County Jail on 8/1/2013 and bond was set at $10,000 on each offense.
