Body Found Inside of Burning Residence

On August 3, 2013, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Cypress Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Orangewood and Valley View in regards to a subject who was walking down the street carrying a knife. The subject was described as a male Black, wearing tan shorts and no shirt. Upon the officer’s arrival, the subject matching the description was observed running through Manzanita Park, then across Panay Street, a residential area in the south of the City. The subject ran into the back yard of a residence on Panay out of sight of pursuing officers.

After establishing a perimeter around the location, a broken window was found to the rear of a residence in the 11500 block of Panay St., which showed signs of forced entry into the residence. A short time later, smoke was seen coming from the house, which ultimately became fully engulfed. The Orange County Fire Authority responded to extinguish the blaze.

During a search of the interior of the house, a deceased body was found inside. At this time, the identity of the body is unknown and it is unknown if the body found is that of the male subject seen running through the park. The home owners of the residence were not home at the time of the incident and were away on vacation.

The crime scene is still active and the investigation is ongoing and being investigated by detectives with the Cypress Police Department along with arson investigators with the Orange County Fire Authority.
