Breaking News – West Bound Lanes of Indiana Toll Road Closed Due to Crash (South Bend)

St. Joseph County – The Indiana State Police are currently on the scene of a personal injury accident involving a semi tractor trailer and a passenger car. The crash that happened shortly after 4:00 a.m. this morning, occurred in the west bound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road near the 68 mile marker. The state police and emergency personnel currently have both west bound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road shut down.

The driver of the car is trapped in her vehicle and emergency personnel currently working at freeing her from the wreckage.

Driver’s planning on traveling west on the Toll Road are asked to be patient and if possible seek an alternate route entering the road west of the South Bend entrance. The crash happened just west of the South Bend west exit.

Police and responding emergency crews are working as fast as possible to reopen the road to west bound traffic, however, delays are expected to begin to build with morning traffic.

No other road or driver information is available at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
