Advisory

Home Invasion Activity-See NIXLE for details

The Farmington Public Safety Department is investigating two (2) reports of attempted home invasions on the 31800 block of Lamar Street in the Bel-Aire Subdivision (west of Orchard Lake Rd. and south of Ten Mile Rd.) The incidents were reported at approximately 4:30 AM and 6:30AM on August 8th.

In the first incident, the resident was alerted to someone trying to open his front door. The resident opened the door at which time an unknown white male suspect ran from the front door to the back (rear) door of the home. The homeowner chased after the suspect who fled the area on foot. The Southfield Police Department K9 Unit responded to the scene to assist in tracking the suspect. The track was unsuccessful.

In the second incident, a homeowner two houses away from where the first incident occurred, awoke to find that a window screen had been pushed up. Further investigation found that no forced entry was made into this residence. At this time investigators have been unable to determine the exact time of when this incident occurred.

The Farmington Public Safety Department is requesting assistance from residents in the area who may have seen a suspicious person or vehicle in the area of the Bel-Aire subdivision during the times of these incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call the public safety department immediately at 248-474-4700.

Residents are reminded to call the public safety department immediately if you observe any suspicious persons, vehicles or situations in your neighborhood. In addition, please practice “target hardening” by leaving porch and driveway lights on overnight. It is also recommended that motion detector lights be installed in dark areas around your home.
