Increased reports of auto theft in Placerville 
The Placerville Police Department is reminding everyone to keep their vehicles locked and always remove valuables. We have investigated 6 reports in the past 2 weeks.
Auto thefts are typically "Crimes of Opportunity." Thieves tend to avoid secured vehicles, parked in well lighted areas and target easily accessed vehicles to reduce the risk of detection.
Owners of the most frequently stolen vehicles (Honda / Toyota) should be especially diligent. The most recent thefts have occurred in the late evening or early morning hours. However, auto theft can occur anytime.
Anyone hearing or seeing suspicious activity near their vehicle or residence should contact the Placerville Police Department immediately. Thank you for helping keep all of us safer.
